Laura Gilpin, long dismissed as a 'regional' photographer by critics, relegating her to the outer recesses of fine photographic technique and image, is described in personal terms by Sina Brush in her new book “Working with Laura Gilpin, Photographer.” Ms. Brush worked for and with Gilpin in various capacities during the last six years of her life.

Her book talks about day to day routine, Navajo visitors that informed every page of “The Enduring Navaho,” and Gilpin's dedication to her magnificent ability printing hand-coated platinum photographs, making her the foremost printer of platinum prints in the country during the last years of her life, a fact amusing her endlessly.

The book, illustrated with 59 vintage photographs by J.B. Smith, photographer and friend to Laura Gilpin, gives a day to day review of Gilpin's personal life, work, and home in fine detail.

This is certainly a personal view of a great photographer, long-ignored, whose legacy is now preserved for all to enjoy.
