Robert Frost in Bennington County (Second Edition)
"The object in life is hard to keep in mind. I let it slip sometimes, but never for long - never for good and all anyway. In this instance it is apple bees fishing poetry high school and nine or ten rooms. Nothing else matters..."

So mused Robert Frost to a friend in 1921, when he and his family had just moved to an old house in South Shaftsbury, Vermont. He was soon to write "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" and other celebrated poems there. Frost and members of his family are buried in the cemetery adjacent to the Old First church in Old Bennington. Every year thousands of the poet's admirers follow the path to his gravestone and visit his former home in South Shaftsbury, now open to the public as the Robert Frost Stone House Museum.

PHIL HOLLAND is a graduate of Bennington College and holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of London. Former Chair of the English Department of Anatolia College in Thessaloniki, Greece, he now teaches English at CCV (the Community College of Vermont). Holland is the author of The Dance Must Follow (poetry, with photographs by Moses Pendleton) and Robert Frost in Bennington County, and the translator (from Greek) of Who Killed Professor X? and A Taste of Greece. A veteran voice actor, he provides voice and writing services through Phil Holland Voice and Word LLC. He lives in Shaftsbury, Vermont.
