Phil Holland: 'Robert Frost in Bennington County - 3rd Edition'
Robert Frost in Bennington County - 3rd Edition
With notes on his gravestone by the Old First Church and a guide to "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening"
So mused Robert Frost to a friend in 1921, when he and his family had just moved to an old house in South Shaftsbury, Vermont. He was soon to write "Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening" and other celebrated poems there. Frost and members of his family are buried in the cemetery adjacent to the Old First Church in Old Bennington. Every year thousands of the poet's admirers follow the path to his gravestone and visit his former home in South Shaftsbury, now open to the public as the Robert Frost Stone House Museum.
